The Association pour la protection des espaces verts de l’Île-Bizard (APEVIB) was founded in the summer of 2014, when a green space of a great ecological value was put for sale “for development” on the Bord-du-Lac road. APEVIB campaigned to have it acquired by the City and added to the parc-nature du Bois-de-l’Île-Bizard. In November 2015, the City of Montreal announced its acquisition and protection. APEVIB has continued to be active and to evolve ever since.

APEVIB acknowledges that L’Île-Bizard is located on a colonized land that was never ceded by First Nations who have been occupying the territory since time immemorial before the settlers arrived.
